Good Friday

A Good Friday Poem

By: Kayla Nickles

What is so good about this day?
It has come and will go away.
There isn’t much that we can see,
that keeps this day especially.

But there’s a feeling in my heart.
Full of grace and love to start.
Something important has happened,
on this day. I begin to sadden.

The son of God came to earth,
He came through love and human birth.
God’s plan for him was mighty grand,
so he spent his time holding hands.

Jesus was loving, joyful, and kind.
He performed miracles and healed the blind.
But not everyone was on board,
when it came to believing in our Lord.

There were people that were jealous and hated him,
thought he was lying, and full of sin.
So they plotted to take him away.
Through a kiss, a friend betrayed.

Jesus was tortured, beaten, and bruised.
The people wanted blood from the man accused.
Well, that’s exactly what they got.
They didn’t realize the price that was bought.

As Jesus was nailed to the tree,
his love was still there, for you and me.
Even though it was our burdens to carry,
He picked them up and at the cross he buried.

He looked to the skies for our Father’s consent,
forgiveness for us, we did not know what it meant.
People surrounding began to shout,
they didn’t know what his words were about.

Taking his last breaths, within the last minute,
He said to himself, “It is finished.”
The skies darkened, the debt was paid.
They took him down, in a tomb he was laid.

It’s just another Friday, right?
What makes this day so special in sight?
Nothing special that we can see,
but dig deeper and you’ll believe.

If you find this story true,
Then you’ll know that Jesus Died For You.
This is the day that we put aside,
to remember this event and abide.
